Client has a Buffalo DriveStation that is connected on their work network. The Buffalo DriveStation is used to store Autocad drawings in the Architect office. One day it was working fine and then it dropped of the network. The light on the front of the Buffalo DriveStation is still showing but it stops flickering after a few minutes and then becomes a constant blue light. When client goes into the network on my computer and try to click on the Buffalo DriveStation it states that “Linux Cannot Mount Disk”. Client has changed power cables and USB cables but did not change anything.
We diagnosed that the Buffalo DriveStation hard dive had a firmnware failure. The firmware on the hard drive had become corrupted, so we updated the firmware on the Buffalo DriveStation and got the system to be recognised. We then extracted the data and backed up the data.
