Privacy. Plain words up here, the formal wording underneath.
Short version: only a handful of details are asked for, the ones a recovery job genuinely needs, and nothing beyond them. What sits on your media goes in front of the engineer running the case and stops there — nobody else in the building sees it. We neither sell it, share it nor use it to market at you. Any copy made here is securely wiped once your files have been back with you for thirty days. Detail follows.
Who we are. The trading name is Nottingham Data Recovery; the company is Easy Data Recovery Ltd, NI625698 on the Northern Ireland register, with ICO registration ZC173784. Everything held about you, item by item
What an enquiry leaves behind. Ring or send the form and four items go on file: a name, an email address, a phone number to reach you on, and your own account of what the device is doing. Remove any single one of them and nobody can answer you, form a view on the media, quote the work or send it back. Before a contract exists we hold them so as to take the steps you asked for; afterwards, so as to perform that contract.
The case file. Against your reference sit emails and calls, the quotation as written, whatever you said in approving it, and the postage trail both ways. Day to day it is how the job runs, and it is also what gets inspected when accounts and statutory returns are examined. The lawful bases number two: performing the contract, and legal obligation.
The contents of your media. Recovery is impossible unless an engineer handles your files, and that handling is the service itself. Beyond it nothing takes place. Nobody browses folders, nobody opens a disk out of curiosity, and whatever comes off the media reaches you and reaches nobody else. Performance of the contract is the lawful basis. Sensitive personal material turning up during a job is treated like every other sector on the disk: recovered, not examined further, not kept any longer.
Things that never happen here
- Nobody keeps a mailing list here; no newsletter goes anywhere; nothing you have given us is bought or sold.
- Nothing on this site is set for advertising and nothing follows you from site to site. Where you go once the tab closes goes unrecorded, and is not our business.
- Everything stays in Britain. No part of the work is subcontracted and nothing goes overseas — your media, and every copy made from it, remains in our own lab.
Who else comes near it
A short list, holding only those without whom the job cannot be done. Hostinger host the site and provide the mailbox the contact form feeds. The courier carries the parcel and sees only the label. Accountants receive invoices and never files. A contract binds each of them to that single purpose. Where the law compels it, and only there, your details reach a public authority.
How long anything stays here
Thirty days is how long the copies made during a job sit in access-controlled storage — long enough for a second pass at it if you want one — after which they are securely erased. Your recovered data goes home before any of that. Where a device is left unpaid or uncollected past the window, the Terms cover what happens next. Enquiry and case paperwork lives longer, six years, because tax, legal and warranty obligations demand it, and is securely disposed of afterwards.
Rights you can call on
The law's protections are untouched by anything in this policy. Asking to see the data held about you is a subject access request. You may equally have that data corrected, deleted, restricted or moved elsewhere, or object to its use. Ring us, or write to the address above; the deadline for a reply is one calendar month. Where our answer does not settle matters, complaints can be taken to the Information Commissioner, whose route is ico.org.uk, although a second word with us is usually faster.
While your device is with us
Booking in attaches one case reference to your device, and it keeps that reference until the parcel leaves again. Access-controlled storage holds it meanwhile; the engineers on the case handle it and nobody else does. Fresh media always carries recovered data home — never the drive it came off — and our copies go the way the schedule above sets out. If ever something happened that put your rights at risk, you would hear from us in plain wording without delay, and so would the ICO, inside 72 hours.
