How is a drive best packed for posting?
It is movement in transit that damages a drive in the post, so start by stopping it. If your lab has one, put the drive in an anti-static bag; then put firm padding against every face of the box, or failing that use the packaging it came in. Get a quote first, then send it by a tracked service. Insure it for the value of the data, not the hardware. Put a printout of the shipping form in alongside.
